Being a staunch believer of the fact that books are definitely better than movies, I was curious as to how the author had imagined the world of Elle Evans.

Obviously, there were some glaring differences between the movie and the book, starting from physical appearance, relationships between characters and story line. Elle or Rochelle Evans and her best friend, Lee Flynn (they are practically twins) are going to enter high school and are brainstorming ideas for a fundraiser for their school carnival. They manage to have a very successful campaign but Elle also ends up kissing Noah, Lee's elder brother. Elle is now caught between her feelings for Noah and her fear that Lee wouldn't approve of them. It's a classic tale of miscommunication which definitely has a happy ending. Though the story adheres to every cliche in the genre and portrays a stereotypical high school and loads of giggly girls, it still is a light and breezy read. Elle and Lee's friendship is delightfully described and is heartwarming as well. I felt that the story was being dragged out in some places. Nevertheless, it captures a lot of a teenager's feelings accurately and is pretty great considering it was written by a 17 year old on Wattpad for fun. Overall, definitely better than the movie as it deals with it's characters better.

P.S. There are sequels to the novel too. Can't wait to read them :)
