It was the year 2017. The entire world was grooving only to two songs - Despacito and Shape of You. I was sick and tired of listening to these beats everywhere, despite never having listened to the songs myself. Finally, I listened to them just to show that I didn't like them. Little did I know that one of these songs was going to change my playlist forever.
Slowly the song grew on me and I ended up tapping my feet to it. But it was when Perfect released that I was well and truly swept off my feet. Only God can keep track of the number of times I've listened to that song on loop. Something about it just feels like a cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter's evening. And that my friends was the start of me fangirling about this brilliant singer-cum-songwriter.
Edward Christopher Sheeran's magic is not in the beats or singing, though that is pretty amazing too. It's in his words. Lyrics to all of his songs, especially the soft pop genre, are simply wonderful. Well thought out and curated, he nails them every single time. His words, music and the chorus all come together to create the perfect symphony. Long before he gained fame and glory, he co-wrote the song 'Little Things' by One Direction. If that isn't enough proof of his dazzling talent, I don't know what is.
Every hopeless romantic's playlist is incomplete without Ed Sheeran's music. Songs like Thinking Out Loud, Perfect and Give Me Love are a must at your dream wedding. The music he composed for movies like The Fault In Our Stars and Me Before You couldn't be more befitting. Other slap-up songs of his include Galway Girl, Shape of You, I Don't Care, Cross Me, Castle on the Hill, Lego House and South of the Border. His latest song Afterglow only left fans yearning for more. Not only are his songs fantastic, the accompanying music and lyric videos are top notch as well.
So here's wishing my favourite singer a very Happy Birthday!
"Don't think I fit in at this party
Everyone's got so much to say, yeah
I always feel like I'm nobody, mm
Who wants to fit in anyway?"
