Every kind of rain is a mood.
The drizzle. The soft pitter patter. Just enough to provide a breath fresh air on hot, sunny day. Just enough to smell like the earth and mud.
The first showers. Beautiful and aesthetic. Good enough to post on Instagram. The one that indicates rain holidays are just around the corner.
The cold ones. The one that makes you hug yourself. The one that makes your nose go cold. The "bhajji sapadalama" kind of rain.
The romanticised ones. The filmy kind - dancing by yourself on the terrace, having some fun with friends on the roads or kissing your significant other in the middle of nowhere.
The thunderstorm. Magnificent as it is mighty. Fierce yet life giving. Bringing joy to millions of farmers across the country by keeping the water crisis at bay.
The Flood. Unstoppable. It's a still a mood. Not ours but Mother Nature's. Keeping us in check. Giving herself sometime to heal.
Pralayam. The ultimate flood in Hindu Mythology which, both, creates and destroys life. Starting afresh. Cleaning the debris.
P.S. That took a slightly dark turn but rain completes the circle of life. It's metaphorical and beautiful. And I finally understand poets' fascination with it.
